Under what the FSS called
"simply gorgeous weather" straight for 4 days, the 4th Annual Kathy Jaffe
Challenge concluded today in White Lake, NY.
32 competitors in 4 power categories enjoyed
sunny skies and almost no wind in beautiful Catskill mountains in a contest sponsored by
IAC Chapter 52. We all have enjoyed having you in our neighbourhood and hope that
you come back again next year.
Congratulations to all competitors and many
thanks to a countless number of volunteers who helped with the contest-
Ron Chadwick, simply the best CD anyone can ask
for. He was the starter, he drove the boundries in and out, he set up the banquet, he
worked with the local authorities to calm down the local noise makers..etc. etc.
Greg Dungan, simply the best Chief Judge anyone
can have at their contest if you want it to run like a well oiled machine and keep it
fun. US Navy... enought said.
Ann Salcedo, Volunteer Coordinator who flew all
the way from FL to work at this contest. She is truly deserving of her Kathy Jaffe
Award. I don't have enough here to list all the things she did.
Deanna Willson who ran the Registrar like an
election compain. I've never seen anyone deal with that much paperwork and keep it
all in order.
Tom Parsons who stepped in and diligently ran
scoring all weekend long despite the last minute changes and re-scorings.
Stephen Seidel who provided the music system
that filled the air with Top Gun soundtrack all weekend long... There's is nothing better
than walking to your plane to the sound of "Mighty Wings". And for
creating Kathy Jaffe plaques...and Split Image Aerobatic Team for supplying the perfect
picture.
Danny Adams of Aviat. There are not enough
words in English to describe all the support and comfort that Danny and Aviat Aircraft
provide with their contest technical assistance program. Thank you for supporting
our sport and the equipment that keeps it safe. Even though it cuts into his hunting
season I hope Danny can always come back and Mr. Horn keeps sending him!!
Birdie Saurenman who operated like Oshkosh
fly-in or Newark Int'l ATC on weekends constantly and swiftly launching aircraft into the
pattern.
A ton of other volunteers who freely gave their
time to make sure we all have a fun and safe contest. We thank you all.
And now..onto the awards. Below are the
official standings and awards:
