IAC Chapter 52 was well represented at AirVenture in Oshkosh, WI this year.
Kendal Simpson arrived early in the week and stayed for the duration, his airplane parked in front of the IAC building. He made a fly-over of the memorial wall in honor of Erica during the memorial ceremony on Sunday, and had first slot for departure from Aeroshell square after the air show.
There are some very nice trophies inside of the display cases in the IAC building. You will recognize many names on the Pitts Trophy for Nationals that was retired after 1997. The newly created design award was on display. The design award honors Curtis Pitts and went this year to Kevin Kimball.
Dennie Thompson, Laurie Zaleski, Ann Salcedo, Kurt Stofko, and Doug Lovell attended the IAC annual meeting. Doug was elected to the board of directors.
Laurie Zaleski accompanied newly appointed FAA Administrator Randy Babbitt around the grounds for three days, photographing him and everything he looked at, including the inside of the Virgin Atlantic White Knight space launch platform.
Mike Josi was on hand exploring the possibility of building an RV-8. Aaron Ham enjoyed the EAA Museum, especially the Eagles and Pitts hanging in the lobby. The entire Flood family attended. Jason represented IAC for Kid Venture.
The EAA Museum has a corner dedicated to aerobatic competition. The Kathy Jaffe Trophy looks lonely there in an otherwise empty and unadorned display case. Another corner recognizes EAA women in aviation, including our current IAC President Vicki Cruse and National Champion Debby Rihn-Harvey.
